Thank you to the Farris Family!
We were very excited to receive our 6th grade auction item, our colorful bookcase! Thank you Farris family for this generous gift! We will be filling it with our favorite novels and creating a small book nook under the windows. The students would love a couple of bean bags to complete their new reading corner. If you happen to have one that you would like to donate - we would love to have it!
Thank you Diana Gill and Carol Brum!
Trunk or Treat was such a fun night out for CSMH families! This wonderful event was organized by our sixth grade parent Diana Gill. Carol Brum organized and hosted a sixth grade trunk. The aloha themed hatchback was fully decked out in true Hawaiian style, bringing a little bit of Hawaiian sunshine and surf's up to the CSMH campus on a gray and cloudy night. The Benjamin family shared the peace with their 60s inspired trunk. The Sutter family designed an entire pirate ship. Thank you to these ladies and all of the parents that helped in one way or another. Lucky us, the rain held off until after the event.
Exhibition is Thursday, November 3rd
From 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
We look forward to welcoming you into our classrooms. The students have been hard at work and love showing off what they are learning. Be sure to view our science camp video and journals as well as our classroom design projects in room 122. In room 105, the sixth graders welcome you to the Land of Early Man. Wander through our cave where you can see the story of Boy of the Painted Cave come to life through cave art and play a game of Hunters and Gatherers.
Buddy Time
We got to spend some time with our buddies this week. The students enjoyed practicing their multiplication by playing a game called Circles and Stars.
Classroom Updates
Humanities
The students have continued building connections between the Hero's Journey and Boy of the Painted Cave. They have written about their findings and are also sharing their connections through their version of cave art.
We held our first two Literature Circle meetings. I have heard some great conversations where the students are really digging deep into their stories. Our remaining Literature Circle meetings are:
Tuesday, November 1
Friday, November 4
Tuesday, November 8
Next week we will be taking a break from Ancient Civilizations to explore current events. With our presidential election upon us, the students will be creating their own elections and experiencing how an electoral college works. This is a short project the includes campaigning, polling, and elections.
