First , thank you for a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week!
Your generosity is beyond belief! Thank you for making us feel special all week long!
Greek Days Are Coming!
In between all of the state testing that has taken place this week, the students have worked hard at transforming room 105 into a Greek agora and theater. They have planned presentations for next week along with a day shopping the agora, class Olympics, and a Greek feast.
The bankers have determined how much money should be distributed to the students based on goods and services available for purchase. Like in all the societies that we have studied this year, there will be a disparity in wealth distribution with some workers earning more than others. While at the agora, students may purchase food, pottery, war shields, god and goddess trading cards; visit the doctor, visit the oracle, and attend a seminar session with a philosopher. Students that attend a seminar will receive a diploma to bump up their earnings. In addition to learning about ancient Greece, they are also getting a taste of creating a real world economy.
Greek Days Schedule

STUDENTS ARE TO WEAR A TOGA TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY
Togas are to be worn on Wednesday and should be worn over t-shirts and shorts. Student will be competing in togas for the class Olympics.
Step 1: Get some fabric, or a white (or any color/pattern) bed sheet. Step 2: Fold the sheet to the length you would your toga. Step 3: Wrap across your body and bring left corner over and under you right elbow. Step 4: Reach around your back to pull the corner across you back and over to the left shoulder.
Just a bit more help is needed!
Thank you for all of the parents that have signed up to help us with our Greek Days! The Agora food is completely taken care of. We have a few more slots available to help with running an Olympic event and we need a bit more food for our Greek feast. Please click below, if you can help us.

Spring Exhibition is Thursday, May 11
This is the perfect time to see all the hard work that the 6th graders have been up to! Visit the Greek Agora and Dionysus Theater in Room 105 and wander the Gallery of Wind Turbines in room 122.
Just a heads up - Ms. Daprile will not be at school Thursday and Friday. I am sad to miss Exhibition and visit with the families. However, my room will be open, so please wander on through. While I am sad to not witness the students showing off their hard work to the parents, I am excited to see my step-daughter graduate from college on Friday morning in Chicago. Fourth child to reach this milestone - two more to go. Yes!
