Happy Thanksgiving!
We are feeling so grateful to work at CSMH and be a part of the great family community at our school. We have really enjoyed conferencing with all our families and we appreciate all the books you have donated to our classrooms from the bookstore! Enjoy your vacation with family and friends. We wish you safe travels and we will see you all on Monday, November 30th!
Math and Science
We have started our unit on weather and will continue working on it when we return from vacation. In math we have been working with the long division algorithm and multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and the relationship between these operations!
If your child gets bored over vacation . . . remind them they can practice their facts using FREE RICE or work on personal assignments in TEN MARKS!

Language Arts and Social Studies
We enjoyed some wonderful literature circle presentations. There are still two groups that need to present when we return. As hard as we tried, we could not fit every group in.
We also experienced our first Socratic Seminar. This seminar was our wrap-up event for our novel, Boy of the Painted Cave. The students came prepared to the discussion with questions and answers. They did an excellent job being active listeners; building on each others comments, thoughts, and questions: and supporting their ideas with evidence from the text. The students loved this activity, and it is a wonderful skill builder! Be sure to ask your child about the Socratic Seminar. Way to go sixth graders!
I collected personal narratives from the students. I am looking forward to reading their stories.
As you can tell it has been a jam packed week. When we return we will be taking a faluka trip down the Nile river! Enjoy your week off and happy Thanksgiving!

Another highlight of the week was their volleyball tournament in P.E.
