Language Arts
This week we have begun exploring the how to write a persuasive essay. We have looked at advertisements and the art of persuasion. What elements work well to persuade others? What techniques do advertisers use to sell and persuade? We have just started the early stages of writing our next essay. Topics have been chosen and graphic organizers are being filled out. Research at home is highly encouraged as it is challenging to get use of the chrome books during class time due to testing. However, this is not a research project and any added information is to be short and only used to support a claim.
Social Studies
We completed or trading expedition along the Silk Road. The students experienced a hands-on activity as they traveled from city to city with the goal of trading their goods for four other items. They learned of the geography traveled as well as the dangers encountered. In addition to trading they needed to learn a greeting in their home language.
Chapter 24 test will be on Tuesday. Completed notebook pages will be due at that time as well. I highly encourage students to review chapter 24 and take the challenge game found on www.learntci.com
