Happy Pi DAY!
Tomorrow, 3-14-15, is officially PI day. What makes this "year of Pi" so special is the date is actually the first five numbers of this mathematical concept. Do you know how this number came to be? Click the link below to watch a video by Jo Boaler that explains:
An extra credit math activity: Find a favorite PIE recipe. Decide how many pies you would need to make to feed all 62 of us! Copy the recipe with the ingredients needed to make enough pies for all! You can either email me the recipe or bring it in! ENJOY! To receive extra credit, this must be done by Friday, March 20th!

Thank you to our drivers for our field trip last week. The students really enjoyed their time exploring the many artifacts of ancient Egypt.
Thank you to our drivers for our field trip last week. The students really enjoyed their time exploring the many artifacts of ancient Egypt.
This week in social studies the students excavated a Shang Dynasty tomb. Crawling under desks to "excavate" artifacts, they then used decoders to help answer questions about each artifact and what it tells archaeologist today about the ancient civilization. The kids all agreed that this was a fun and interesting hand-on learning experience!
There will be a social studies test next Thursday, March 19th on Chapter 20 - The Shang Dynasty
Language Arts
The students have started presenting their literature circle group projects! They have worked really hard trying to convey a lot of book information into an engaging and informative presentation. They are doing a great job!
Next Tuesday, March 17 the students will be sharing their writings during a class publishing party. As this is also St. Patrick's Day, some of the children have signed up to bring a food item to share at our All Green Potluck.
