Anti-Bullying Assembly
CSMH welcomed Brian Stow on Friday for an Anti-Bullying assembly. He shared the story of his journey from being a paramedic and first responder that was beaten at a Giants - Dodgers baseball game. After a nine month coma, he had to relearn how to live. He is now on a mission to end fan violence and bullying in schools. The sixth graders were excellent audience members and they really took his message to heart.
Gratitude Journal due Tuesday, April 26th
This was a twenty-day project where students should be recording people they are grateful for in their lives.
The Sixth Graders are Published!
After many, many weeks of writing, and then working in groups, our class online magazine is published and live for viewing. YEA! Please note though, this is still a work in progress. Now that the website is viewable to all, not just the editors, all students will be reviewing the various pages and making corrections. There are still many games and puzzles that need to be added.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We have moved onto the study of Ancient China. We are looking at the five very different regions of both Outer and Inner China. The students, working in groups, have created beautiful posters showing the geographic features of China. They have shown the elevation, vegetation, ad climate of each region. We also learned how this impacted the settlements of Ancient China.

Language Arts
We have continued reading our class novel, Tuck Everlasting. We are discussing the proposal that Jessie has made to Winnie about drinking the water when she is 17 years old. The question is, "Will she?" and "Should she?" This book looks at the concept of immortality and the consequences of living forever. This naturally leads to some interesting conversations!
We also worked on essays that the students have the option of entering into a contest. This essay titled, "America, My Home, Sweet, Home" is part of Morgan Hill's 4th of July Essay Contest.
