BOOTS OR WORK SHOES NEEDED FOR AGRICULTURE CLASS!
With the wet and rainy weather comes mud and slippery ground. Students need to bring a pair of boots or shoes that they don't mind getting dirty. If students are not able to participate in class activities due to their footwear, they will be sent to a classroom to sit.
I heard through the grapevine . . . "less expensive" boots can be purchased through Tractor Supply ON-LINE.

We are continuing with our story of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. We have learned how the rats became intelligent creatures, and we are now making connections between what the rats plan for and hope to achieve with early man and the forming of early civilizations. Like early man, these intelligent rats are trying to establish an agrarian society to produce a steady food supply, moving away from hunting and gathering.
The students have also all chosen a topic to research as we being to work on our writing of non-fiction. For this writing project each student needs to have a minimum of three sources of information. One source must be a book. If we do not have a book in the classroom about their chosen topic, they will need to visit the city library to look for a book. I would like to have all students have a book about their topic in class by Monday.or as soon as possible.

This week we started chapter 11, the Origins of Judaism, and we learned about four important leaders of the early Israelites: Abraham, Moses, King David, and King Solomon. We looked at their contributions to the development of Judaism.
Next week we will start Chapter 12, Learning About World Religions: Judaism. With this chapter we will be learning of the four central teachings of Judaism: Monotheism; Following Jewish Teachings; Equality and Social Justice; and the Importance of Study. As part of this chapter the students need to be looking for a newspaper or magazine article about a current topic the reflects one of these four central teachings. We will be covering this in class next week, but if you happen to come across an article that makes a connection in the meantime - please save it.
