Classroom Updates
Language Arts
The students are both busy reading and writing in langue arts. We just finished the second literature circle meeting with the third meeting schedule for next Wednesday. It is important that all students are reading over the next four days and complete their role sheet for class on Wednesday.
There will not be a LRJ (literature Response Journal) due next Thursday.
All students should be visiting the grammar tab under Language Arts. Here they will find games and videos to help them practice different grammar concepts. We will be having a quiz on prepositions next Thursday.
Written book reports were returned to the students earlier this week. If any student wants to take advantage of my re-write policy they should carefully read the policy below (we covered this in class as well). Re-writes are due by 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Re-Write Policy
In order to help you grow as a writer this year, you will be able to submit a re-write of selected writings. The re-write is to help you develop your writing in the area of content, not spelling and grammar. I expect the paper to be free of spelling and grammar errors on the first submit. With a re-write of the content you may increase your grade by up to one letter grade. Re-writes are not mandatory, but they are encouraged. Should you choose to take advantage of this opportunity, you need to turn in your original writing piece and the green assessment paper with your re-written piece of writing.
Social Studies
We have continued our studies of Ancient Egypt. Chapter 8 Tests have been returned and test corrections are due on Wednesday. The majority of the students wanted to have this test count for this first trimester, so I am getting in in just under the wire with my report cards being due on Thursday.

Math
Please be aware that grades have been taken off line to complete report grades. They will be online after next week. The TenMarks assignment that is due tomorrow will be recorded in next trimester's grade book.
We continue to work with graphs. Students are designing their own survey questions and will be creating graphs to display information.
