HOMEWORK CLUB
Classroom Updates
Chapter 1 test scores have been posted. Students will bring home their tests on Monday. they need to make corrections on a separate piece of paper and returned them signed by a parent letting me know that an adult has gone over their mistakes. If your child struggled with the concepts of GCF, LCM, Comparing Decimals or Rounding, I have assemble a supplemental packet for them to work through as extra practice. It would be beneficial to your child if you could go over this work with your child so that we can move closer to mastery of these concepts. These concepts are fifth grade standards and students need to be proficient with these ideas to be successful as we move more into sixth grade concepts. I am available during Homework Club, recess or lunch time to help any student that needs more guidance.
This week the two subjects were combined even more than usual as the students were busy building a cave and filling the walls with cave art that showed connections between Boy of the Painted Cave and the Hero's Journey. In addition to the twelve steps of the Hero's Journey, we also had presentations on the history of early man and the history of cave art. I hope that you were able to see the displays of the students' learning at exhibition! They did a wonderful job working collaboratively and as they built connections and then shared their learning with the class.
In social studies we will further explore ancient Egypt starting with a felucca tip down the Nile river to visit ancient Egyptian sites. We have an adventure in store next week!
